After 20 played minutes Talleres got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Presebal. 21 minutes into the match, Fausto Gasteiz sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Rickard Lindström threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Fausto Gasteiz this time. If German Richie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 30 minutes into the match, Donato Cresenciano notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of San Lorenzo's Guillermo Sabin. Guillermo Sabin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fidel Cebrian who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Rickard Lindström when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Guillermo Sabin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donato Cresenciano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 43 minutes San Lorenzo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Mefodiy Shershun who took care of the corner kick. When German Richie, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 46 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Guillermo Sabin was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and German Richie made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Fidel Cebrian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rickard Lindström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. German Richie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guillermo Sabin having to interfere. If Gilberto Eufrasio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to San Lorenzo getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Teodoro Giraldo hit a great ball. German Richie blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guillermo Sabin having to make a save. German Richie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guillermo Sabin having to interfere. After 72 played minutes San Lorenzo got a freekick which was hit by Fermin Alvarez. Guillermo Sabin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of German Richie's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. Eustaquio Mateus struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Rickard Lindström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Lorenzo. A collision led to San Lorenzo getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Cipriano Olo hit a great ball. German Richie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Mefodiy Shershun was slow to take the kick. During this time Talleres's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of San Lorenzo's goalie and right to Fausto Venerando. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. San Lorenzo's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by German Richie in the 96th minute of play forced San Lorenzo's goalkeeper Guillermo Sabin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The San Lorenzo supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Talleres's performance. The match ended with a win for Talleres.
