Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Ignacio Guipuzkoa kicked off to start the match. 2 minutes into the match, Bagual's Elpidio Aguirre sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luciano Bermudo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Bernabe Bastia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Luciano Bermudo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Elpidio Aguirre came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Bagual fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elpidio Aguirre couldn't finish the play. Andres Ariando sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gervasio Cai's late challenge caught a River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gervasio Cai helped the player get up and apologised. After a defensive mix-up in Bagual's zone, Ignacio Guipuzkoa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teddy Roche came out of the goal and Ignacio Guipuzkoa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute Ignacio Guipuzkoa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teddy Roche saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of River Plate booed when Bagual was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gervasio Cai didn't get a good kick on the ball. Teddy Roche showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignacio Guipuzkoa, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. With a little luck, River Plate's Luciano Bermudo got control of the ball when Elpidio Aguirre tried to sneak it across the goal line. Enrique Veronica hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute of the match, Elpidio Aguirre got a very nice opportunity to score, but Luciano Bermudo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Bagual's Elpidio Aguirre got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernabe Bastia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luciano Bermudo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. If Ignacio Guipuzkoa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bernabe Bastia to make the kick off. Bagual were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after River Plate's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Inocencio Gipuzkoa took the corner. River Plate's Ignacio Guipuzkoa got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ignacio Guipuzkoa might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Teddy Roche. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ignacio Guipuzkoa ran back to his position shaking his head. Luciano Bermudo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernabe Bastia in the 67th minute of play. Bernabe Bastia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rd minute, Placido Polo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bagual fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Bernabe Bastia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luciano Bermudo having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernabe Bastia in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luciano Bermudo saved River Plate from getting behind. Luciano Bermudo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernabe Bastia in the 90th minute of play. Ciro Pes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Teddy Roche tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. River Plate's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
