The referee felt a red card was in order, 12 minutes into the game, when Leandro Jobo put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Racing Club fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 11th minute. Penalty! In the 14th minute there was a penalty for Ayajaso. Fausto Acevedo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rosendo Goren. 0-2. 18 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when Astor Mazuste came free, but Rosendo Goren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute, Astor Mazuste hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nunez Fresco struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Jacobo Sotero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Club. Esteban Jerardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Sotero having to interfere. After the first half Ayajaso were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 53rd minute, Ayajaso's Teofilo Feliu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rosendo Goren. Rosendo Goren yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Nunez Fresco hit a great ball. Raimundo Beila kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Jacobo Sotero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orlando Osasun in the 64th minute of play. In the 66th minute Orlando Osasun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Sotero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ceferino Xabel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Orlando Osasun managed to get in a good position for a shot. Racing Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Orlando Osasun was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacobo Sotero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 77th minute Astor Mazuste shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rosendo Goren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Facundo Cordaro got free with Rosendo Goren in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Racing Club's Rosendo Goren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Racing Club from getting a goal against them. 81 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when Astor Mazuste came free, but Rosendo Goren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Racing Club's Rosendo Goren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Racing Club from getting a goal against them. 94 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when Astor Mazuste came free, but Rosendo Goren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
