After 16 minutes of play, riverplatense's Inocencio Vellito made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The riverplatense fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Godofredo Aguilera should have stopped the shot. When Inocencio Vellito fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored riverplatense's protests and gave Inocencio Vellito a yellow card for diving instead. In the 23rd match minute, riverplatense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Inocencio Vellito to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute of the match Flavio Merexildo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Godofredo Aguilera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 41st minute, Fermin Alvarez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Enzo Hotz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Carmelo Abancens's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Godofredo Aguilera was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. A collision led to riverplatense getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Feliberto Pedroso hit a great ball. Flavio Merexildo got in the 87th minute a good position and tried a long shot which to a great surprise passed a very astonished Godofredo Aguilera. This was a shot which ended in a score of 1-9. Carmelo Abancens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
