But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquin Clementi couldn't finish the play. Augusto Tajo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joaquin Clementi in the 47th minute of the match. The Instituto players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Volcán were winning 0-1.

After a rather tough play, Instituto's Joaquin Clementi got a free kick in the 51st minute. In the 55th minute of the match, Cayetano Chuse tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Delmar Bortzaioriz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Instituto booed when Volcán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elpidio Baristo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 72nd minute, Joaquin Clementi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Instituto's Delmar Bortzaioriz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Instituto from getting a goal against them. Marciano Osoitz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match was over Volcán could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Instituto throughout the match.
