The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leo Messi during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Leo Messi hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. SuperCampeones's Ciro Piearres got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Ciro Piearres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ignacio Orlo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Generoso Virila in the 25th minute of play. In the 29th minute Generoso Virila shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ignacio Orlo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ciro Piearres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 37 minutes, Generoso Virila managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SuperCampeones's supporters crossed their fingers, but Generoso Virila was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilfredo Guipuzkoa in the 42nd minute of play forced Academia FC's goalkeeper Ignacio Orlo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Generoso Virila managed to get in a good position for a shot. SuperCampeones's supporters rose to their feet, but Generoso Virila was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ignacio Orlo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 73rd minute, Horacio Sidoro fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Teofilo Cesario, passed just outside the right post. Teofilo Cesario showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enzo Vito in the 77th minute of the match. In the 79thth minute of the game Generoso Virila who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Academia FC's Ignacio Orlo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. SuperCampeones's Anier Ledesma got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Generoso Virila's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ignacio Orlo was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. Ignacio Orlo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Casimiro Fernanco in the 83rd minute of play. Anier Ledesma struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Ignacio Orlo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SuperCampeones. Academia FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though SuperCampeones had controlled the match.
