After a rather tough play, LEON's Hermengildo Martxelin got a free kick in the 7th minute. Justo Goyo might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Raimundo Precioso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Justo Goyo ran back to his position shaking his head. When Pastor Matxin fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Atlético Paraná's protests and gave Pastor Matxin a yellow card for diving instead. Pastor Matxin kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Club Atlético Paraná defense, Justo Goyo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raimundo Precioso. The Club Atlético Paraná fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raimundo Precioso should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Jatsu in the 36th minute of play forced LEON's goalkeeper Alejo Abreu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Justo Goyo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Raimundo Precioso having to make a save. Justo Goyo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leonides Abreu's late challenge caught a LEON's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonides Abreu helped the player get up and apologised. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Jatsu was the one to do the kick off. Jaime Jatsu struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Alejo Abreu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético Paraná. Martin Bladi charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Martin Bladi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Club Atlético Paraná booed when LEON was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Bladi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alejo Abreu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jaime Jatsu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 59 minute of play. Vinicio Mancio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimundo Precioso having to interfere. In the 71st minute, Jaime Jatsu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alejo Abreu was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Jaime Jatsu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alejo Abreu having to interfere. Jaime Jatsu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 86 minutes, Maximo Handi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. LEON's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maximo Handi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Raimundo Precioso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justo Goyo in the 90th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Jaime Jatsu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético Paraná's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaime Jatsu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alejo Abreu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Club Atlético Paraná had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
