The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 7 minutes into the game, Tiburcio Goi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gimnasia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guanaco FC the free kick. A collision led to Gimnasia getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Tiburcio Goi hit a great ball. Pascual Etxeberri, 8 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 10th minute Octavio Sidro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeremias Todor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th match minute, Guanaco FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Octavio Sidro to maneuver through the defense. When Octavio Sidro came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Guanaco FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Octavio Sidro couldn't finish the play. After 24 minutes of play, Gimnasia's Rafael Gaztea made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Adan Celipe was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Cornelio Oxarra came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Gimnasia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cornelio Oxarra couldn't finish the play. Filomeno Policarpio hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Natalio Orlo charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Natalio Orlo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Natalio Orlo kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. If Octavio Sidro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Octavio Sidro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rafael Gaztea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jeremias Todor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernardino Grabiel in the 54th minute of the match. Gimnasia's Jeremias Todor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardino Grabiel in the 59th minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Gimnasia's goal looked a bit too open when Octavio Sidro came free, but Jeremias Todor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adan Celipe made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Rafael Gaztea sent off a good shot on target. Cornelio Oxarra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adan Celipe having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cornelio Oxarra in the 82nd minute of play forced Guanaco FC's goalkeeper Adan Celipe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cornelio Oxarra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Adan Celipe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Filomeno Policarpio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 88th minute Gimnasia were awarded a corner. Venancio Tipi went to the cornerflag to take it. A collision led to Gimnasia getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Isidro Millano hit a great ball. Jeremias Todor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Octavio Sidro in the 91st minute of the match. Cornelio Oxarra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Gimnasia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
