The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jacobo Jenaro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With his leg Ismael Tajo managed to avoid a goal in the 10thth minute, when Douglas Haig's Filomeno Onofre fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 16 minutes into the match, Fortín's goalkeeper Ismael Tajo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Filomeno Onofre. Bernabe Jacindo kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Danilo Munio struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Mateo Baladi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fortín. Marcelo Elorri hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Cristo Martino, 29 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Filomeno Onofre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Ismael Tajo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Elias Laurentzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jacobo Jenaro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Filomeno Onofre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Douglas Haig's supporters crossed their fingers, but Filomeno Onofre was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Elias Laurentzi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Ismael Tajo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Filomeno Onofre's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ismael Tajo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. In the 59th match minute, Douglas Haig was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tadeo Kiliz to maneuver through the defense. Jacobo Jenaro's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 69thth minute, Mateo Baladi skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 71 minutes, Ramiro Ricart mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fortín and the Douglas Haig players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 70th minute of the game. One of Fortín:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Douglas Haig:s goal. Fortín:s Ismael Tajo showed great skill when he stopped Marcelo Elorri:s penalty. In the 76th minute, one of Douglas Haig:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Douglas Haig. The referee gave Fortín a penalty, 78 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cristo Martino, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Douglas Haig's Mateo Baladi. 0-1. If Filomeno Onofre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Filomeno Onofre sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 91st minute, Marcelo Elorri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Danilo Munio got free with Mateo Baladi in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Fortín had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
