Fabian Rainerio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ramon Tirso having to make a save. If Flavio Kismi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee felt a red card was in order, 20 minutes into the game, when Pascual Rosario put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 20th minute of the game. One of Club Atletico Ducilo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Newells Old Boys:s goal. Apolo Gonsalve showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guillermo Presebal in the 31st minute of the match. Newells Old Boys's Ramon Tirso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Newells Old Boys from getting a goal against them. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Flavio Kismi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Club Atletico Ducilo getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Nicanor Vito hit a great ball. Godofredo Oinaz might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Apolo Gonsalve. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hermengildo Gitano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Although Club Atletico Ducilo had been in control for most of the match, Newells Old Boys still came away with the win.
