Spectators: 6561 (Terracing: 5537, Seating: 1016, VIP seats: 8) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gervasio Rufo in the 11th minute of play forced Alberta FC's goalkeeper Saturnino Toribio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alberta FC's Julio Salamon got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Astor Oskarbi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gervasio Rufo struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Saturnino Toribio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Elena. Astor Oskarbi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Foro having to interfere. Elena's Ariel Foro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Elena from getting a goal against them. Sixto Manilan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Saturnino Toribio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Elena's goalkeeper Ariel Foro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julio Salamon. Leandro Koldobika recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Astor Oskarbi came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Alberta FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Astor Oskarbi couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gervasio Rufo to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raimundo Cerilo during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
