Remigio Ovando was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Remigio Ovando took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Octavio Richie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leeds United's Romeo Belasko proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Leeds United from getting a goal against them. After 37 minutes of play, Leeds United's Nunez Nafarroa made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Remigio Ovando was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Hernan Maule in the 41st minute of play forced Echeverría's goalkeeper Remigio Ovando to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 42 minutes into the match, Echeverría's goal looked a bit too open when David Osorio came free, but Remigio Ovando reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leeds United's Romeo Belasko proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Leeds United from getting a goal against them. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

With his leg Remigio Ovando managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when Leeds United's Octavio Richie fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 61st minute, Edelmiro Egoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Romeo Belasko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Mogel, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Romeo Belasko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriel Cesario in the 70th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Echeverría's Anibal Eate got a free kick in the 79th minute. In the 90th play minute David Osorio came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Remigio Ovando. 0-4. When Gabriel Cesario came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Echeverría fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gabriel Cesario couldn't finish the play. When the match was over Leeds United could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Echeverría throughout the match.
