An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldo Eleazar in the 44th minute of play forced Echeverría's goalkeeper Remigio Ovando to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The Echeverría fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Remigio Ovando should have stopped the shot. Ayui AFC's Guido Quinto got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Guido Quinto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ayui AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Guido Quinto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Remigio Ovando breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ramiro Osmundo charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ramiro Osmundo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
