Inocencio Lander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angel Machado having to interfere. 21 minutes into the game, Marco Medina recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Florentino Balesio. Marco Medina showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Florentino Balesio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elvio Oriol in the 26th minute. Marco Medina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marco Medina took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Florentino Balesio. Florentino Balesio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Carlos Ibar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Angel Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Newells booed when FULHAM FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugenio Urtzi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ernesto Mingo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angel Machado having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Ernesto Mingo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Marco Medina made the kick off in the second half. If Inocencio Lander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th play minute Carlos Ibar came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Angel Machado. 3-2. 71 minutes into the match, Elvio Oriol had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Florentino Balesio. Newells's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Elvio Oriol was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. Florentino Balesio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marco Medina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 81 minutes into the match, Newells's goal looked a bit too open when Elvio Oriol came free, but Florentino Balesio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 83 minutes into the game, Ernesto Mingo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newells's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FULHAM FC the free kick.
