The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ciénaga's goalkeeper Arnaldo Gergori, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Natalio Benvido in the 17th minute of play forced Ciénaga's goalkeeper Arnaldo Gergori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. LOS INTELECTUALES's Romulo Vincente proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save LOS INTELECTUALES from getting a goal against them. Natalio Benvido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Arnaldo Gergori tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, Erubiel Palben had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Romulo Vincente. LOS INTELECTUALES's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erubiel Palben was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Severiano Etxeberri hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Natalio Benvido managed to get in a good position for a shot. LOS INTELECTUALES's supporters rose to their feet, but Natalio Benvido was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnaldo Gergori breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. LOS INTELECTUALES's Natalio Benvido got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
