The referee gave Olaeta a penalty, 6 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Basilio Quexal, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Argentinos Jrs's Paulo Joseph. 0-1. In the 13th minute Oscar Naike shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicasio Rexino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th minute of the match Argentinos Jrs got a corner. Olaeta's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Emilio Macerio ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Argentinos Jrs's Emilio Macerio to fire away a dangerous shot which Nicasio Rexino despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Paulo Joseph showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basilio Quexal, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The supporters of Argentinos Jrs booed when Olaeta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacinto Fortun didn't get a good kick on the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Olaeta's goalkeeper Nicasio Rexino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ramiro Tiniebra. In the 35th minute, Argentinos Jrs's Oscar Naike ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nicasio Rexino. Nicasio Rexino yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Paulo Joseph came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Olaeta's Basilio Quexal. But to his dismay, Basilio Quexal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. After 47 minutes, Godfredo Milian mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Olaeta and the Argentinos Jrs players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Olaeta getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Godfredo Milian hit a great ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Basilio Quexal made a kick off. Argentinos Jrs's Paulo Joseph proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Argentinos Jrs from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 57 minutes, Paulo Joseph successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 57th minute of the match, Basilio Quexal tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Paulo Joseph saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Paulo Joseph acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 58th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Rodrigo Beat. In the last second Paulo Joseph throw himself and got hold of the ball when Basilio Quexal in the 61stth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alejo Berdoi in the 69th minute of play forced Argentinos Jrs's goalkeeper Paulo Joseph to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Argentinos Jrs's goal looked a bit too open when Alejo Berdoi came free, but Paulo Joseph reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Ramiro Tiniebra fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Argentinos Jrs's protests and gave Ramiro Tiniebra a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Argentinos Jrs getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Ramiro Tiniebra hit a great ball. After having played for 77 minutes, Edgard Montxo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olaeta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgard Montxo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edgard Montxo might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo Joseph. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edgard Montxo ran back to his position shaking his head. The nice shot from Edgard Montxo in the 86thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Paulo Joseph had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Paulo Joseph made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Edgard Montxo sent off a good shot on target. In the 90th match minute, Olaeta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angelino Urritz to maneuver through the defense. When Emilio Macerio came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Argentinos Jrs fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emilio Macerio couldn't finish the play. Nicasio Rexino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramiro Tiniebra in the 97th minute of play. When the match was over Olaeta could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Argentinos Jrs throughout the match.
