Deportivo Pelongo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gerardo Olivar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. West Ham United's Severino Mendebal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugenio Fernanco in the 11th minute of play. Severino Mendebal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benigno Tipi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 14 minutes, Benigno Arnas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the West Ham United and the Deportivo Pelongo players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Camilo Avellaneda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the game, Arnoldo Francesco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Norberto Feliz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benigno Tipi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Severino Mendebal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eugenio Fernanco received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Severino Mendebal came out and tried to block the shot, but Eugenio Fernanco slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 40th minute. Jairo Mancio kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Severino Mendebal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benigno Tipi in the 53rd minute of play. After 56 played minutes West Ham United got a freekick which was hit by Arnoldo Francesco. Thanks to some nice moves Arnoldo Francesco could shoot a difficult shot in the 59th minute, which Norberto Feliz however easily saved by the left post. In the 85th minute, Benigno Tipi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Deportivo Pelongo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. In the 90th minute, Benigno Arnas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benigno Tipi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Severino Mendebal having to make a save. Deportivo Pelongo were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of West Ham United for a fine match.
