Juan Hotz's late challenge caught a Unione Sportiva Lecce's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jose Bihar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amancio Orixe, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fausto Goi during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fausto Goi kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Unione Sportiva Lecce's Epifanio Montay pulled a muscle in his leg after 17 minutes and couldn't finish the game. West Ham United's Juan Hotz got his second yellow card of the match in the 17th minute. The referee ordered Juan Hotz off the ground. 21 minutes into the match, West Ham United's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Heli came free, but Severino Mendebal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th match minute, West Ham United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnoldo Francesco to maneuver through the defense. 33 minutes into the game, Amancio Orixe was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. West Ham United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Unione Sportiva Lecce the free kick. After 33 played minutes West Ham United got a freekick which was hit by Amancio Orixe. In the 35th minute of the match Tobias Jerardo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Severino Mendebal skillfully saved the ball. 38 minutes into the game, Armando Bastiaro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jose Bihar was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Unione Sportiva Lecce's Fausto Goi got a free kick in the 42nd minute. In the 45th minute, Jairo Mancio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 47 minutes of play West Ham United's Amancio Orixe was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, West Ham United's Amancio Orixe got a free kick in the 48th minute. If Armando Bastiaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Unione Sportiva Lecce's zone, Agustin Paio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jose Bihar came out of the goal and Agustin Paio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Fresco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Severino Mendebal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd minute, Carlos Fresco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Severino Mendebal was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Severino Mendebal came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Unione Sportiva Lecce's Carlos Fresco. But to his dismay, Carlos Fresco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Cipriano Karmel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnoldo Francesco hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Armando Bastiaro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Jose Bihar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
