Roque Maura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agustin Katia having to interfere. 17 minutes into the match, El sol negro's Roque Maura sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Agustin Katia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 18 minutes had been played when some careless play by Newells Old Boys's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Roque Santxol was slow to take the kick. During this time El sol negro's players had a chance to rest. The corner led El sol negro's Roque Santxol to fire away a dangerous shot which Agustin Katia despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Agustin Katia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roque Maura, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. If Rogelio Loren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agustin Katia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Merexildo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Agustin Katia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roque Maura, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fausto Merexildo couldn't finish the play. Dario Eutropio kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rogelio Loren stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Agustin Katia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Fausto Merexildo came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the El sol negro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fausto Merexildo couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Dario Eutropio hit a great ball. Fausto Merexildo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Agustin Katia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fausto Merexildo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agustin Katia having to interfere. 86 minutes into the game, Roque Maura recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Agustin Katia. Roque Maura showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Roque Maura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Agustin Katia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fausto Merexildo went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. The El sol negro players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
