Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Urbano Azevedo to make the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Racing Club de Avellaneda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adolfo Chale to maneuver through the defense. When Adolfo Chale fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Racing Club de Avellaneda's protests and gave Adolfo Chale a yellow card for diving instead. If Norberto Gomesano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. In the 78th minute Norberto Gomesano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fidel Milian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Norberto Gomesano struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Fidel Milian didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ripamonti. After a defensive mix-up in Racing Club de Avellaneda's zone, Eliseo Iliana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fidel Milian came out of the goal and Eliseo Iliana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 91st minute, Adolfo Chale got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Urbano Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
