Fidel Milian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciriaco Urritz in the 4th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ciriaco Urritz in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fidel Milian prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 12thth minute of the game Urbano Azevedo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Aive's Santos Ponce was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Santos Ponce showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Urbano Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 18th match minute, Aive was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maximo Calisto to maneuver through the defense. After 19 played minutes, Racing Club de Avellaneda's Braulio Cruz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Santos Ponce came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Racing Club de Avellaneda reached it. In the 19th match minute, Aive was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fermin Maldonado to maneuver through the defense. Fidel Milian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severo Loramendi in the 22nd minute of play. In the 23rd minute Ciriaco Urritz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fidel Milian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Santos Ponce was a little too slow when Urbano Azevedo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 25th minute. The score was now 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Aive's zone, Urbano Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Santos Ponce came out of the goal and Urbano Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Braulio Cruz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 35th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Santos Ponce. Aive's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Racing Club de Avellaneda's Pedro Pio was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 38th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After a rather tough play, Racing Club de Avellaneda's Braulio Cruz got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Severo Loramendi struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Fidel Milian didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aive. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Urbano Azevedo was the one to do the kick off. Urbano Azevedo might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Santos Ponce. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Urbano Azevedo ran back to his position shaking his head. After 55 minutes, Maximo Calisto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Aive and the Racing Club de Avellaneda players grew even worse after the yellow card. Maximo Calisto hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Santos Ponce stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Urbano Azevedo's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. In the 61st minute Urbano Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santos Ponce saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urbano Azevedo in the 67th minute of play forced Aive's goalkeeper Santos Ponce to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Pio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santos Ponce having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Julio Uhin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aive's supporters rose to their feet, but Julio Uhin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fidel Milian breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Racing Club de Avellaneda's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
