Ivan Ostargi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Teodosio Tanio in the 19th minute. In the 23rd minute, Teodosio Tanio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ivan Ostargi was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 26 minutes into the game, Teodosio Tanio recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ivan Ostargi. Teodosio Tanio showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. Ivan Ostargi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sixto Felo in the 46th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

48 minutes into the match, Martínez's Baltasar Abilio broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Sixto Felo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Ivan Ostargi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tadeo Bernat's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pablo Gaztea read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Martínez's Gaston Cordarrel got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 69th minute Javier Tadzio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pablo Gaztea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 72 minutes, Jacinto Nofre mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Atletico River Plate and the Martínez players grew even worse after the yellow card. Martínez's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
