In the 9th minute Pablo Ostargi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aristides Elija saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Comunicaciones booed when Maldonado FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Godfredo Raymundo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erubiel Maiorga took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aristides Elija. Aristides Elija dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 18th minute Pablo Ostargi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aristides Elija saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Pablo Ostargi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Aristides Elija was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Julio Maule hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Damaso Cordera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florentino Calisto, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 32 minutes into the game, Luciano Cordario recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Damaso Cordera. Luciano Cordario showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. 36 minutes into the match, Maldonado FC's goal looked a bit too open when Florentino Calisto came free, but Damaso Cordera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute, Maldonado FC's Miguel Dominguez seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Miguel Dominguez the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Maldonado FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Miguel Dominguez had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Maldonado FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 39th minute. Penalty! Rolando Tallia walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Damaso Cordera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severiano Rodas in the 44th minute of the match. Luciano Cordario sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nestor Guifre to strike the kick off in the second half. Tomas Baldovino kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Luciano Cordario took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Damaso Cordera. Damaso Cordera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. In the 63rd minute, Nestor Guifre made a precise shot to the right of Aristides Elija. Comunicaciones's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. In the 77th minute, Julio Maule hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Damaso Cordera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rolando Tallia in the 82nd minute of play. After 86 minutes, Luciano Cordario mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Comunicaciones and the Maldonado FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luciano Cordario kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. The Maldonado FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Maldonado FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
