The shot was stopped by Gavino Veremundo but with some difficulty. Chivas de mexico's Gavino Veremundo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Chivas de mexico from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edelmiro Tabor in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gavino Veremundo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edelmiro Tabor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gavino Veremundo made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Siro Calvino sent off a good shot on target. When Edelmiro Tabor came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Team Benja 66 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edelmiro Tabor couldn't finish the play. If Edelmiro Tabor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Chivas de mexico's zone, Edelmiro Tabor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gavino Veremundo came out of the goal and Edelmiro Tabor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 36 minutes into the match, Chivas de mexico's goalkeeper Gavino Veremundo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Siro Calvino. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edelmiro Tabor made a kick off. Gavino Veremundo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edelmiro Tabor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 54 minutes, Victorino Arixo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Team Benja 66 and the Chivas de mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Team Benja 66's Victorino Arixo got a free kick in the 54th minute. 57 minutes into the match, Chivas de mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Siro Calvino came free, but Gavino Veremundo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 64th minute, Abelardo Natanael got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 68th match minute, Chivas de mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldo Sidoro to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Siro Calvino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gavino Veremundo was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Edelmiro Tabor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavino Veremundo having to interfere. Jaime Noe kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Siro Calvino took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gavino Veremundo. Gavino Veremundo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. A collision led to Chivas de mexico getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Abelardo Natanael hit a great ball. 95 minutes into the game, Genaro Estefan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chivas de mexico's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Team Benja 66 the free kick. Genaro Estefan kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match.
