After 29 played minutes Racing Club got a freekick which was hit by Moises Guillerme. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Camilo Polentzi in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Efrain Kaxen saved Racing Club from getting behind. Elvio Belo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Camilo Donzel having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
With a little luck, Racing Club's Efrain Kaxen got control of the ball when Bartolo Lapurdi tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 60th minute, Camilo Polentzi fired away a shot on goal.
