After a rather tough play, Chivas de mexico's Osvaldo Sidoro got a free kick in the 9th minute. Christian Cesaro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anselmo Caetano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Gavino Veremundo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chivas de mexico were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after La Marea Roja's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fabricio Bermudo took the corner. Serafin Gaur thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Faustino Cambranes, a very annoying self made goal in the 20th minute which led to 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abelardo Natanael in the 24th minute of play forced La Marea Roja's goalkeeper Faustino Cambranes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of La Marea Roja booed when Chivas de mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laureano Pagomari didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Anselmo Caetano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lorenzo Jacob's late challenge caught a La Marea Roja's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lorenzo Jacob helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Chivas de mexico getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Lorenzo Jacob hit a great ball. But to his dismay, Anselmo Caetano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. 39 minutes into the match, La Marea Roja's goal looked a bit too open when Abelardo Natanael came free, but Faustino Cambranes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gavino Veremundo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anselmo Caetano, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Laureano Pagomari's late challenge caught a La Marea Roja's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Laureano Pagomari helped the player get up and apologised.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anselmo Caetano to make the kick off. Christian Cesaro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Faustino Cambranes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abelardo Natanael, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anselmo Caetano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavino Veremundo having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as La Marea Roja's Christian Cesaro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gavino Veremundo. That made the score 2-2 after 59 minutes of play. Jaime Noe helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Chivas de mexico getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Jaime Noe hit a great ball. Gavino Veremundo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicolas Caradaro in the 75th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Chivas de mexico's zone, Anselmo Caetano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gavino Veremundo came out of the goal and Anselmo Caetano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aldo Napier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavino Veremundo having to interfere. Chivas de mexico's Gavino Veremundo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Chivas de mexico from getting a goal against them. Gavino Veremundo stood somewhat misplaced when Christian Cesaro came free in front of goal and shot 2-4 to the left of him in the 88 minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laureano Pagomari in the 92nd minute of play forced La Marea Roja's goalkeeper Faustino Cambranes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gavino Veremundo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Cesaro, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Anselmo Caetano struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Gavino Veremundo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for La Marea Roja.
