Spectators: 7171 (Terracing: 5380, Seating: 1649, VIP seats: 142) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Abelardo Natanael started the match with the kick off. Gavino Veremundo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anselmo Rius, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. In the 4th minute of the match Racing Club got a corner. Chivas de mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Justo Frutos ran over to the corner to take the kick. Justo Frutos made a great header on Racing Club's corner, it was just that Chivas de mexico's Gavino Veremundo managed to reach the ball for a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Elvio Belo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Racing Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Elvio Belo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gavino Veremundo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Racing Club's Efrain Kaxen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laureano Pagomari in the 9th minute of play. After 12 played minutes Chivas de mexico got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Noe. In the 24th minute Laureano Pagomari shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Efrain Kaxen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abelardo Natanael recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chivas de mexico's goalkeeper Gavino Veremundo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 31st minute of the match Angelino Costante sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gavino Veremundo skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Anselmo Rius hit a great ball. In the 37th match minute, Chivas de mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lorenzo Jacob to maneuver through the defense. After 40 minutes Chivas de mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Justo Frutos who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Justo Frutos got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gavino Veremundo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Laureano Pagomari might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Efrain Kaxen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Laureano Pagomari ran back to his position shaking his head. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elvio Belo made a kick off. Elias Modestio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gavino Veremundo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elias Modestio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gavino Veremundo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elias Modestio in the 66th minute of the match. When Elias Modestio came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Racing Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elias Modestio couldn't finish the play. Gavino Veremundo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elvio Belo in the 70th minute of play. Elvio Belo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chivas de mexico's Gavino Veremundo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anselmo Rius in the 75th minute of play. Efrain Kaxen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Sidoro in the 84th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Modestio in the 89th minute of play forced Chivas de mexico's goalkeeper Gavino Veremundo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Justo Frutos hit a great ball. Chivas de mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fabricio Bermudo in the 95th minute. A nice corner shot did that Genaro Estefan got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Efrain Kaxen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 97th minute of the match Fabricio Bermudo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Efrain Kaxen skillfully saved the ball. The Chivas de mexico players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
