The referee ignored Club Atlético SantaPaula's protests and gave Matias Domingues a yellow card for diving instead. In the 2nd minute, Matias Domingues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético SantaPaula's Osvaldo Gasteiz got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 4 minutes into the game, Delmar Lando was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Atlético SantaPaula's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independiente the free kick. A collision led to Club Atlético SantaPaula getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Delmar Lando hit a great ball. 6 minutes into the match, Iker Ugutz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cornelio Abaurre. Club Atlético SantaPaula's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Iker Ugutz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Igor Sal came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Igor Sal couldn't finish the play. Aquilino Oso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hector Odol made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Osvaldo Gasteiz sent off a good shot on target. 20 minutes into the match, Iker Ugutz notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Club Atlético SantaPaula's Cornelio Abaurre. Cornelio Abaurre was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aquilino Oso in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cornelio Abaurre saved Club Atlético SantaPaula from getting behind. In the 29th minute Nereo Lando shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hector Odol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hector Odol made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nestor Atarratze in the 30th minute. In the 33rd play minute Nestor Atarratze came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Hector Odol. 1-3. Iker Ugutz scored 1-4 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cornelio Abaurre, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Aquilino Oso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cornelio Abaurre having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iker Ugutz in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cornelio Abaurre prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 47 minutes of play, Independiente's Aquilino Oso made it 1-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cornelio Abaurre was left in no man's land by his defense there!

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nereo Lando to strike the kick off in the second half. Independiente's Igor Sal got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 54thth minute of the game Aquilino Oso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Atlético SantaPaula's Cornelio Abaurre was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aquilino Oso's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 56thth minute, Cornelio Abaurre skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Aquilino Oso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 58thth minute tested the skills of Cornelio Abaurre when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Igor Sal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cornelio Abaurre read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atlético SantaPaula's zone, Emiliano Petri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cornelio Abaurre came out of the goal and Emiliano Petri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Club Atlético SantaPaula's Cornelio Abaurre got control of the ball when Emiliano Petri tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Ubaldo Corderro took a quick shot and it went in 1-6 without a chance for Cornelio Abaurre to make any attempt to save it. Emiliano Petri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Cornelio Abaurre tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Ubaldo Corderro fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Cornelio Abaurre, passed just outside the right post. Igor Sal in the 75thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Cornelio Abaurre, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Cornelio Abaurre took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aquilino Oso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Independiente's Hector Odol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nereo Lando in the 77th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Nereo Lando managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético SantaPaula's supporters rose to their feet, but Nereo Lando was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hector Odol breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Igor Sal kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nereo Lando in the 81st minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Hector Odol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Club Atlético SantaPaula's Cornelio Abaurre proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Club Atlético SantaPaula from getting a goal against them. Club Atlético SantaPaula's Cornelio Abaurre played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Igor Sal in the 84th minute of play.
