Racing Club's Ermegildo Salvator proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Racing Club from getting a goal against them. Lisandro Havier kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Baldomero Bieito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Siro Eskuin who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Ermegildo Salvator when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 23 minutes of play, Racing Club's Lisandro Iratxo made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rogelio Cordarius was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 27th minute, Rodrigo Liberto made a precise shot to the right of Rogelio Cordarius. Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Ermegildo Salvator stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Baldomero Bieito's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. With a little luck, Racing Club's Ermegildo Salvator got control of the ball when Siro Eskuin tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Lisandro Havier managed to get in a good position for a shot. Racing Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Lisandro Havier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rogelio Cordarius breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Leonides Abalos kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. The Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Racing Club were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Baldomero Bieito to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Racing Club's Silvano Charro got a free kick in the 51st minute. Siro Eskuin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ermegildo Salvator having to interfere. Candido Quintana hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Baldomero Bieito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Baldomero Bieito charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Leonides Abalos hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. 66 minutes into the game, Rodrigo Liberto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Racing Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba the free kick. In the 66th minute, Rodrigo Liberto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Racing Club's Ermegildo Salvator played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Siro Eskuin in the 68th minute of play. In the 69th minute, Siro Eskuin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ermegildo Salvator was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After 73rd play minutes Baldomero Bieito shot 2-2, a short shot which went by Ermegildo Salvator and just under the crossbar into goal. The audience was convinced that Siro Eskuin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ermegildo Salvator was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Silvano Charro charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Silvano Charro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 78 minutes into the game, one of Racing Club:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ermegildo Salvator had in the 80thth minute some difficulties stopping Guido Maria's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Lisandro Iratxo hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Liberto in the 87th minute of play forced Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba's goalkeeper Rogelio Cordarius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Siro Eskuin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Ermegildo Salvator tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
