But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnaldo Astudillo couldn't finish the play. Orlando Jesco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herminio Colon in the 19th minute of play. A collision led to Mattew getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Salvador Fidencio hit a great ball. Victoriano Gorbea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alonzo Aurken received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Orlando Jesco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd match minute, Mattew was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramiro Chucho to maneuver through the defense. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnaldo Astudillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Pelicurá's Benito Colon got control of the ball when Victoriano Gorbea tried to sneak it across the goal line. Benito Colon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arnaldo Astudillo's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Orlando Jesco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Efrain Senio, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute.
