Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Froilan Pereyra got the match started through his kick off. 6 minutes into the game, Aaron Koldo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ElpataFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pichincha the free kick. In the 6th match minute, ElpataFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Koldo to maneuver through the defense. After 8 played minutes ElpataFC got a freekick which was hit by Celestino Salomon. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leonardo Christobal got free with Isidoro Quintana in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 13 played minutes Pichincha got a freekick which was hit by Froilan Pereyra. In the 15th minute Ismael Enaut shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isidoro Quintana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute, ElpataFC's Denis Baumer seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Denis Baumer the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of ElpataFC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Denis Baumer had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 19th minute, Denis Baumer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Isaias Quintan struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Cristobal Duarte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pichincha. The supporters of Pichincha booed when ElpataFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marciano Gartzea didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in ElpataFC's zone, Isaias Quintan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristobal Duarte came out of the goal and Isaias Quintan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Isaias Quintan might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cristobal Duarte. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Isaias Quintan ran back to his position shaking his head. If Ismael Enaut had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ismael Enaut in the 36th minute of play forced Pichincha's goalkeeper Isidoro Quintana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Isaias Quintan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Cristobal Duarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, ElpataFC's Cristobal Dunixi got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 47th minute Froilan Pereyra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristobal Duarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ismael Enaut to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Pichincha's zone, Marciano Gartzea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isidoro Quintana came out of the goal and Marciano Gartzea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristobal Duarte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Froilan Pereyra in the 65th minute. Tobias Bertran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Cristobal Duarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristobal Duarte didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Isaias Quintan went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After 85 played minutes ElpataFC got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Christobal. Pichincha's Isaias Quintan got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristobal Duarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Froilan Pereyra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ismael Enaut had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Pichincha supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Pichincha would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
