Spectators: 7185 (Terracing: 5484, Seating: 1681, VIP seats: 20) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Roman Txordon took the kick off in the first half of the match. Isidoro Quintana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roman Txordon, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. After 11 played minutes Pichincha got a freekick which was hit by Paolo Lando. After some careless play in the Elena defense, Isaias Quintan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lino Sotero. The Elena fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lino Sotero should have stopped the shot. When Isaias Quintan came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Pichincha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isaias Quintan couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Froilan Pereyra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lino Sotero was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Froilan Pereyra in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lino Sotero prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Isaias Quintan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Lino Sotero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Isaias Quintan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lino Sotero having to interfere. Froilan Pereyra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 38thth minute of the game Froilan Pereyra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Elena's Lino Sotero was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some careless play in the Elena defense, Isaias Quintan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lino Sotero. The Elena fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lino Sotero should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Froilan Pereyra in the 46th minute of play forced Elena's goalkeeper Lino Sotero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Froilan Pereyra made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tobias Bertran in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. Lino Sotero came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Pichincha's Isaias Quintan. But to his dismay, Isaias Quintan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Isaias Quintan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Froilan Pereyra came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Pichincha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Froilan Pereyra couldn't finish the play. After having played for 76 minutes, Isaias Quintan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pichincha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Isaias Quintan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paolo Lando received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Lino Sotero came out and tried to block the shot, but Paolo Lando slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 77th minute. When Isaias Quintan came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Pichincha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isaias Quintan couldn't finish the play. In the 87th minute, Froilan Pereyra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Pichincha getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Silvio Abadia hit a great ball. When Pichincha's Froilan Pereyra in 93 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Lino Sotero guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Pichincha's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
