Spectators: 7194 (Terracing: 5397, Seating: 1654, VIP seats: 143) 4 minutes into the game, Guaberto Telo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Julian Fresco was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 12th match minute, Club Atletico Tucuman was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guaberto Telo to maneuver through the defense. Guaberto Telo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julian Fresco having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in San Martín de Tucumán's zone, Astor Baumar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julian Fresco came out of the goal and Astor Baumar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. San Martín de Tucumán's Herminio Rencio got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Astor Baumar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julian Fresco having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Tucuman's goal looked a bit too open when Herminio Rencio came free, but Nicasio Mogel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cornelio Hermon got his second yellow card in the match during the 26th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 27th minute, Cornelio Hermon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to San Martín de Tucumán getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Eustaquio Chayo hit a great ball. If Herminio Rencio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicasio Mogel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herminio Rencio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 48 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Tucuman's goal looked a bit too open when Herminio Rencio came free, but Nicasio Mogel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Astor Baumar made a kick off. Guaberto Telo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Club Atletico Tucuman's Nicasio Mogel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eustaquio Chayo in the 62nd minute of play. In the 68th minute Herminio Rencio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicasio Mogel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Astor Baumar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd minute Astor Baumar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julian Fresco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Placido Nuxila kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Astor Baumar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Julian Fresco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Astor Baumar fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Atletico Tucuman's protests and gave Astor Baumar a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of San Martín de Tucumán booed when Club Atletico Tucuman was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Astor Baumar didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute Herminio Rencio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicasio Mogel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Herminio Rencio managed to get in a good position for a shot. San Martín de Tucumán's supporters rose to their feet, but Herminio Rencio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicasio Mogel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 85th minute Eustaquio Chayo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicasio Mogel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 92 minutes of play, San Martín de Tucumán's Herminio Rencio made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nicasio Mogel was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 96 minutes, Epifanio Gerazan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Atletico Tucuman and the San Martín de Tucumán players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 96th minute, Epifanio Gerazan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Osvaldo Errapel took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 97th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nicasio Mogel. Club Atletico Tucuman's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. San Martín de Tucumán's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
