Jesus Urtsin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nicasio Mogel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bartolo Cambranes, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. After having played for 10 minutes, Astor Baumar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Atletico Tucuman's supporters crossed their fingers, but Astor Baumar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Club Atletico Tucuman's Astor Baumar got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Guaberto Telo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atletico Tucuman's supporters rose to their feet, but Guaberto Telo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hilario Veremundo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Astor Baumar took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hilario Veremundo. Hilario Veremundo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 20th minute, Guaberto Telo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Colón AFC's Hilario Veremundo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guaberto Telo in the 21st minute of play. After 22 played minutes Colón AFC got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Lander. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guaberto Telo in the 23rd minute of play forced Colón AFC's goalkeeper Hilario Veremundo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guaberto Telo kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. When Jesus Urtsin came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Colón AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jesus Urtsin couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bartolo Cambranes in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicasio Mogel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Guaberto Telo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Colón AFC's Hilario Veremundo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Colón AFC from getting a goal against them. In the 58th minute, Apolo Chinto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 61 minutes into the match, Colón AFC's Jesus Urtsin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nicasio Mogel narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
