But to his dismay, Hugo Fiz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. If Eriberto Dubardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Ave Fénix Fútbol Club's Ruperto Malvin got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hugo Fiz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 53rdth minute tested the skills of Daniel Cebo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Casimiro Orland showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eriberto Dubardo in the 89th minute of the match. After 91 played minutes Sunderland A.F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Julián Álvarez. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Apolo Natanael during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Hugo Fiz got free in front of the goal in the 93rd minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Daniel Cebo was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Ave Fénix Fútbol Club's Casimiro Orland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eriberto Dubardo in the 95th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded Ave Fénix Fútbol Club left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Sunderland A.F.C..
