In the 9th match minute, Gimnasia y Tiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aureliano Francho to maneuver through the defense. Haroldo Vistruario received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Leandro Enaut tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Enrique Telesforo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Raul Hug. That made the score 1-0 in the 23 minute of play. In the 31st minute Enrique Telesforo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raul Hug saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrique Telesforo in the 33rd minute of play forced Tronador's goalkeeper Raul Hug to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 33 played minutes Tronador got a freekick which was hit by Flavio Maura. If Haroldo Vistruario had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Haroldo Vistruario came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Tronador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Haroldo Vistruario couldn't finish the play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Raul Hug showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laureano Pancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Tronador's Raul Hug played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laureano Pancho in the 61st minute of play. Haroldo Vistruarios short, quick shot in the 69thth minute got Leandro Enaut to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Haroldo Vistruario fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leandro Enaut having to interfere. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Raul Hug showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
