Eusebio Jakobe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bartolo Iigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Maximino Herena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 38th minute of the match, Emiliano Erramun tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Edgard Txaran saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a defensive mix-up in banfield AFC's zone, Ernesto Abadie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eusebio Jakobe came out of the goal and Ernesto Abadie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 44th minute Bartolo Iigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusebio Jakobe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bartolo Iigo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eusebio Jakobe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. After the first half Instituto F.C. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Bartolo Iigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusebio Jakobe having to interfere. banfield AFC's Maximino Herena got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of banfield AFC booed when Instituto F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ambrosio Orlondo didn't get a good kick on the ball. banfield AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner led banfield AFC's Hugo Gregory to fire away a dangerous shot which Edgard Txaran despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Edgard Txaran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emiliano Erramun in the 60th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Maximino Herena in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edgard Txaran saved Instituto F.C. from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Instituto F.C.'s Donato Hermon got a free kick in the 64th minute. Donato Hermon kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. 68 minutes into the match, banfield AFC's Wilfredo Beti broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 69 played minutes Instituto F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Donato Hermon. The referee showed Silvio Olo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 73 played minutes Instituto F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Silvio Olo. In the 87th minute, Maximino Herena made a precise shot to the right of Edgard Txaran. Instituto F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Bartolo Iigo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eusebio Jakobe having to make a save. banfield AFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
