When Placido Eguntsenti came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Compadres fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Placido Eguntsenti couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Quilmes Atlético Club's zone, Jeremias Maurino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guillermo Jenaro came out of the goal and Jeremias Maurino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Evelio Christobal hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. When Jeremias Maurino came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Compadres fans jumped to their feet. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Camilo Silvino to make the kick off. Placido Eguntsenti might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Guillermo Jenaro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Placido Eguntsenti ran back to his position shaking his head. Quilmes Atlético Club's Guillermo Jenaro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Placido Eguntsenti in the 63rd minute of play.
