Spectators: 6865 (Terracing: 5100, Seating: 1665, VIP seats: 100) boca juniors's Celso Frantzes started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Leandro Gonchan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Santo Rioja made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Frantzes in the 11th minute of play. Leandro Gonchan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabricio Aureo having to interfere. Gaston Katia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabricio Aureo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Celedonio Cai kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. In the 23rd minute of the match Inocencio Gilabert shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Santo Rioja showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Santo Rioja came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by boca juniors's Christian Telesforo. But to his dismay, Christian Telesforo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. A collision led to Tambillo getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Roman Quinto hit a great ball. 40 minutes into the match, Christian Telesforo notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Tambillo's Santo Rioja. Santo Rioja was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Leandro Gonchan took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fabricio Aureo. Fabricio Aureo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leandro Gonchan to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Leandro Gonchan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Christian Telesforo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roman Quinto hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Fabricio Aureo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Gonchan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fabricio Aureo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gaston Katia in the 68th minute. Leandro Gonchan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Fabricio Aureo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leandro Gonchan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabricio Aureo having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Frantzes in the 75th minute of play forced Tambillo's goalkeeper Santo Rioja to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cayetano Froila fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santo Rioja having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christian Telesforo in the 79th minute of play forced Tambillo's goalkeeper Santo Rioja to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santo Rioja made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Frantzes in the 86th minute of play. Roman Quinto's late challenge caught a boca juniors's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roman Quinto helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of boca juniors booed when Tambillo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roman Quinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Santo Rioja showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Telesforo, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Leandro Gonchan struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Fabricio Aureo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tambillo. Gaston Katia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Fabricio Aureo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the match, Tambillo's goal looked a bit too open when Celso Frantzes came free, but Santo Rioja reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. boca juniors's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
