When Guillermo Illan came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Magdalena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guillermo Illan couldn't finish the play. Teofilo Pierres was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Juan Rexino. Orlando Duardo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Maurino, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Tomás Grabiel hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After 36 played minutes Magdalena got a freekick which was hit by Julio Celio. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Magdalena's goalkeeper Orlando Duardo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antonio Gonsalve during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience was convinced that Guillermo Illan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Teofilo Pierres was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. Tapiales FC's Teofilo Pierres tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 74 minutes into the game, Edgardo Gabirel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Orlando Duardo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Teofilo Pierres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julio Celio in the 77th minute of play. Justino Lucila charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After having played for 85 minutes, Guillermo Illan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Magdalena's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guillermo Illan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Guillermo Illan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Teofilo Pierres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Artemio Demario sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 95 minutes, Guillermo Illan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Magdalena walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
