The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jaime Gartzea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcial Tiadoro's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Leonel Gombal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcos Raebert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Froilan Basajaun fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 33rd minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. Leonel Gombal was a little too slow when Marcos Raebert got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 37th minute. The score was now 1-1. In the 40th minute Vinicio Herensuge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Gartzea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcial Tiadoro to make the kick off. Jaime Gartzea was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tiburcio Ruisko showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 55 minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jacinto Astudillo during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 58 played minutes Club 9 de julio got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Astudillo. Jaime Gartzea made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Marcial Tiadoro sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tiburcio Ruisko got free with Jaime Gartzea in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 81st match minute, Club 9 de julio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basilio Quilo to maneuver through the defense. Victorio Balasi received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jaime Gartzea came out and tried to block the shot, but Victorio Balasi slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 82nd minute.
