But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Melquiades Urtsua couldn't finish the play. Melquiades Urtsua received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Fernando Perpinya tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 0-1 became the score in the 14th minute when Melquiades Urtsua elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Que Lio Messi F.C.'s zone, Gregorio Marz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dionisio Roldan came out of the goal and Gregorio Marz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 22nd minute Cosme Valiente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Perpinya saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cosme Valiente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cosme Valiente in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fernando Perpinya prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Que Lio Messi F.C. booed when Chaco FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonides Terciero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Melquiades Urtsua fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Perpinya having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cosme Valiente in the 31st minute of play forced Chaco FC's goalkeeper Fernando Perpinya to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cosme Valiente blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fernando Perpinya having to make a save. If Epifanio Niva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Que Lio Messi F.C. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Americo Rudolfo to strike the kick off in the second half. Fernando Perpinya showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Melquiades Urtsua, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Americo Rudolfo hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Melquiades Urtsua recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Melquiades Urtsua fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Perpinya having to interfere. With a little luck, Chaco FC's Fernando Perpinya got control of the ball when Cosme Valiente tried to sneak it across the goal line. Melquiades Urtsua might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fernando Perpinya. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
