The referee ignored Gitanox's protests and gave Candido Bernabel a yellow card for diving instead. Candido Bernabel kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the match, ATENAS's goal looked a bit too open when Leonides Gipuzkoa came free, but Miguel Chus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Miguel Chus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquin Benet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 13 minutes into the game, Joaquin Benet cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Miguel Chus was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 17th match minute, ATENAS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Nuno to maneuver through the defense. After 18 minutes of play, Gitanox's Joaquin Benet made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Miguel Chus was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of ATENAS booed when Gitanox was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Epifanio Gelacio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee gave ATENAS a penalty, 31 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Silvano Koldobika, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Gitanox's Ulises Rafe. 1-2. 35 minutes into the match, ATENAS's goal looked a bit too open when Leonides Gipuzkoa came free, but Miguel Chus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ulises Rafe was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Damian Pacorro showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 37 minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Joaquin Benet notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of ATENAS's Miguel Chus. Miguel Chus was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Damian Pacorro to make the kick off. In the 55th minute Leonides Gipuzkoa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Chus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arturo Argider got free with Miguel Chus in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gitanox's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Julio Fidele in the 65th minute. The corner led Gitanox's Edelmiro Jokin to fire away a dangerous shot which Miguel Chus despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After some careless play in the Gitanox defense, Damian Pacorro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ulises Rafe. The Gitanox fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ulises Rafe should have stopped the shot. 80 minutes into the match, ATENAS's goalkeeper Miguel Chus had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joaquin Benet. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joaquin Benet got free with Miguel Chus in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Leonides Gipuzkoa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Chus having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonides Gipuzkoa in the 96th minute of play forced ATENAS's goalkeeper Miguel Chus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 98th minute by Leonides Gipuzkoa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
