Andres Giro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Justo Tibalt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andres Giro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Andres Giro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Justo Tibalt came out of the goal and Andres Giro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Andres Giro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Santiago Barrionuevo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Justo Tibalt came out of the goal and Santiago Barrionuevo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sergio Min's late challenge caught a Independiente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sergio Min helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Independiente booed when Patricios was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sergio Min didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tadeo Mede's late challenge caught a Independiente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tadeo Mede helped the player get up and apologised. When Lázaro Haitz came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lázaro Haitz couldn't finish the play. After 32 played minutes Patricios got a freekick which was hit by Romulo Gaueko. Through an outstanding action, after 40 minutes, Justo Tibalt successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Santiago Barrionuevo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Justo Tibalt having to interfere. Lázaro Haitz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Zacarias Salvadore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andres Giro to make the kick off. During the 57th minute of the match Tadeo Mede completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Tadeo Mede a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 57th match minute, Patricios was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tadeo Mede to maneuver through the defense. Patricios made a substitution. Aquilino Nardo replaced Sergio Min. Nicolas Fidele made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lázaro Haitz in the 82nd minute. Santiago Barrionuevo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Justo Tibalt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zacarias Salvadore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 93 minutes in the game, Lázaro Haitz fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Nicolas Fidele having to interfere. Romulo Gaueko hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Patricios were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
