River Plate FC's Pedro Dominic got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Baldomiro Bikendi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Dominic in the 16th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, River Plate FC's Gaspar Tristão sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Baldomiro Bikendi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gaspar Tristão took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Baldomiro Bikendi. Baldomiro Bikendi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Gaspar Tristão's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Baldomiro Bikendi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Dominic in the 37th minute of play forced Defensores Alberdi Club's goalkeeper Baldomiro Bikendi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gaspar Tristão struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Baldomiro Bikendi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate FC. Pedro Dominic received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Baldomiro Bikendi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Baldomiro Bikendi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Dominic, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Baldomiro Bikendi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
