The River Plate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mario Garin should have stopped the shot. Remigio Sandalio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laureano Mero in the 11th minute of the match. Severo Batista took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mario Garin. Mario Garin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Eustacio Bazil's late challenge caught a River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eustacio Bazil helped the player get up and apologised. In the 17th match minute, Real Bañiles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eustacio Bazil to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute, Eustacio Bazil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Remigio Sandalio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcelino Santos in the 24th minute. Real Bañiles's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Laureano Mero 26 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-2. Through an outstanding action, after 31 minutes, Remigio Sandalio successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The throw-in from Nunez Arnau in the 34th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Real Bañiles's Hernan Vermudo. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Hernan Vermudo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Bañiles's supporters rose to their feet, but Hernan Vermudo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mario Garin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ariel Neto kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. In the 39th minute of the match Bernabe Montrell sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mario Garin skillfully saved the ball. In the 44th minute, Gustavo Eyague hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 47th minute Severo Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mario Garin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When Marcelino Santos fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored River Plate's protests and gave Marcelino Santos a yellow card for diving instead. After 51 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for River Plate! Luisito Ongile's late challenge caught a River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luisito Ongile helped the player get up and apologised. Luisito Ongile hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. In the 60th minute, Laureano Mero ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Remigio Sandalio was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. Marcelino Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cesar Hitz kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Nunez Arnau might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Remigio Sandalio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nunez Arnau ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelino Santos in the 70th minute of play forced Real Bañiles's goalkeeper Remigio Sandalio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laureano Mero scored 3-4 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Remigio Sandalio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in River Plate's zone, Gregorio Selmo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mario Garin came out of the goal and Gregorio Selmo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Severo Batista in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mario Garin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Real Bañiles's attentive Gustavo Eyague managed to snatch the ball when Ruben Silviano made a throw-in in the 92nd minute of the game. 93 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Severo Batista came free, but Mario Garin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ruben Silviano made in the 98th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Real Bañiles's Gustavo Eyague. The River Plate supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Real Bañiles's performance. The match ended with a win for Real Bañiles.
