Americo Polentzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Hegoi having to interfere. 9 minutes into the game, Federico Caetano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Resistencia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chiriguanos the free kick. A collision led to Resistencia getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Federico Caetano hit a great ball. Efrain Gau kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. If Americo Polentzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edelmiro Hulberto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilio Pacifico, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. When Aurelio Cidro fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chiriguanos's protests and gave Aurelio Cidro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 23rd minute, Aurelio Cidro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 29 played minutes Chiriguanos got a freekick which was hit by Marcos Cordaryal. 30 minutes into the match, Resistencia's Efrain Gau broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 35 minutes into the game, Americo Polentzi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. After a rather tough play, Chiriguanos's Marcelo Boniel got a free kick in the 37th minute. 38 minutes into the match, Emilio Pacifico had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edelmiro Hulberto. Chiriguanos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emilio Pacifico was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 47th minute, one of Chiriguanos:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Chiriguanos. Efrain Gau shot the penalty kick right outside the post. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
Americo Polentzi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Francisco Hegoi made a huge save. In the 57th minute, Eduardo Bernaldo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Americo Polentzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Resistencia booed when Chiriguanos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelo Boniel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Americo Polentzi might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Francisco Hegoi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Americo Polentzi ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 70 minutes, Americo Polentzi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chiriguanos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Americo Polentzi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eduardo Bernaldo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Francisco Hegoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edelmiro Hulberto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Omar Grabiel in the 78th minute of the match. After having played for 80 minutes, Emilio Pacifico managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. If Eduardo Bernaldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Resistencia fans cheered their team off the field, for while Chiriguanos had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
