After 4 played minutes Pavón got a freekick which was hit by Arsenio Edwardo. Melchor Mano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Jesus Abaurre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pavón's Arsenio Edwardo got his second yellow card of the match in the 13th minute. The referee ordered Arsenio Edwardo off the ground. In the 13th match minute, Pavón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arsenio Edwardo to maneuver through the defense. Jesus Abaurre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Cordarrell having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eugenio Perrando during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Pavón's Eugenio Perrando got a free kick in the 19th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vladimiro Garcia in the 25th minute of play forced Pavón's goalkeeper Gustavo Cordarrell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. River fc's Vladimiro Garcia got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eugenio Perrando's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Teofilo Cristofol read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Melchor Mano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Teofilo Cristofol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Martin Rosalio fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pavón's protests and gave Martin Rosalio a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Pavón getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Martin Rosalio hit a great ball. 38 minutes into the match, Pavón's goalkeeper Gustavo Cordarrell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jesus Abaurre. Melchor Mano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teofilo Cristofol having to interfere. The supporters of Pavón booed when River fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adan Perutxo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jesus Abaurre sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Melchor Mano to make the kick off. Melchor Mano's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Teofilo Cristofol firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 58th match minute, Pavón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eugenio Perrando to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 60 minutes, Vladimiro Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River fc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vladimiro Garcia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gustavo Cordarrell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vladimiro Garcia in the 63rd minute of the match. Pavón's Gustavo Cordarrell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimiro Garcia in the 64th minute of play. Melchor Mano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Teofilo Cristofol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rigoberto Phelipe recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eugenio Perrando kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. The long shot by Astor Berbiz in the 88th minute really tested Teofilo Cristofol's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Vladimiro Garcia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gustavo Cordarrell read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Pavón's zone, Jesus Abaurre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustavo Cordarrell came out of the goal and Jesus Abaurre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
