Ezequiel Beremundo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benigno Gurutz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in River.P's zone, Ricardo Vincente stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benicio Erasto came out of the goal and Ricardo Vincente tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elpidio Maju sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Elpidio Maju fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benicio Erasto having to interfere. Vinicio Francis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Benigno Gurutz made a huge save. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The audience was convinced that Ezequiel Beremundo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benigno Gurutz was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. The supporters of las pesadillas booed when River.P was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Justo Olando didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricardo Vincente got free with Benicio Erasto in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 80th minute, Vinicio Francis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River.P fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. When Vinicio Francis came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the River.P fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vinicio Francis couldn't finish the play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
