The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Claudio Furman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimeno Dunixi having to interfere. Aquilino Udalaitz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Apolo Berdaitz, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Aquilino Udalaitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Moises Gonzo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 11th minute Moises Gonzo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aquilino Udalaitz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute, Oscar Argina got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 20 minutes into the match, Phoenix's goal looked a bit too open when Marcial Ubendu came free, but Aquilino Udalaitz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 23 minutes, Alejo Colas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Phoenix's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alejo Colas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Monteverde AFC's Jimeno Dunixi got control of the ball when Gervasio Nahia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Aquilino Udalaitz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moises Gonzo, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Oscar Argina took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aquilino Udalaitz. Aquilino Udalaitz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Aquilino Udalaitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Apolo Berdaitz in the 46th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Apolo Berdaitz was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Phoenix's Gervasio Nahia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jimeno Dunixi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Claudio Furman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Jimeno Dunixi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aquilino Udalaitz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Apolo Berdaitz in the 57th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Moises Gonzo got free with Aquilino Udalaitz in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jimeno Dunixi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gervasio Nahia in the 66th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Apolo Berdaitz in the 68th minute of play forced Phoenix's goalkeeper Aquilino Udalaitz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 72 minutes of play, Phoenix's Manuel Criston made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jimeno Dunixi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Aquilino Udalaitz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Apolo Berdaitz in the 77th minute of play. Apolo Berdaitz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aquilino Udalaitz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Gervasio Nahia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Jimeno Dunixi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 86th minute Claudio Furman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimeno Dunixi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudio Furman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Phoenix's Claudio Furman got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Gervasio Nahia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Moises Gonzo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Phoenix fully deserved thier win.
